Amanda Loesch - Managing Editor / Creator
The Final Girl Review is a blood-spattered love letter to horror and literature, curated, edited, and published by its sole survivor—me, the Final Girl herself.
My name is Amanda Loesch, and I created this literary magazine as a space where fiction, poetry, and hybrid horror thrive in all their chilling glory. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in English from Virginia Wesleyan University, where I first discovered the thrill of the written word—and the rush of publishing my own work in undergraduate journals like The Fishbowl Review and Periphery Journal. From haunted verses to ghost-soaked prose, my passion lies in storytelling that claws at the edges of genre and lingers long after the final page.
As the lone scream queen on the masthead, I do it all: editing, design, publishing, and occasionally fending off monsters (both metaphorical and literal). But I never do it entirely alone. I share my home—and sanity—with my wonderful fiancé Ryan, our loyal pup Astrid, two feline familiars Mako and Ozzie, and a creepy-cute clan of five hermit crabs.
The Final Girl Review stands at the crossroads of horror cinema and literary art, celebrating voices that aren’t afraid to peek under the bed, open the cursed book, or walk into the woods alone. Because that’s where the best stories live—in the dark, waiting.
I’ll leave you with a quote that lives at the heart of this magazine, from the inimitable Stephen Graham Jones:
“There's final girls everywhere, aren't there? I used to think they were the rarest breed, the finest vintage. But everyone who's got something to fight for, they'll fight for it, never mind if it's a fight they should win. 'Should' doesn't always matter. What does is that you run screaming into this thing, and don't stop until it's over.”
Welcome to The Final Girl Review. We’re so glad you made it out alive.
